Labor Unions & #MeToo in STEM

  • Phinney Neighborhood Association 6532 Phinney Avenue North Seattle, WA, 98103 United States (map)

We will present a discussion and workshop focusing on organized labor in STEM fields and highlighting the impact of the #MeToo movement on STEM professionals. Speakers will include leaders from local labor organizations that represent STEM workers, as well as people on the front lines of developing greater protections for women in STEM, who experience rates of workplace sexual harassment second only to those in the military. We will provide guidance on how to navigate through workplace conflicts, and attendees will leave with a toolkit of strategies for dealing with gendered harassment in the workplace. This event is presented as part of “Building Power”, a weekend of community engagement organized by Seattle Womxn Marching Forward, in celebration of the second anniversary of the historic Women’s March protests of 2017. https://www.seattlewomxnmarchingforward.org/anniv-2019/
